"I'm so tired..."
I said to the mirror,
bags under my eyes
and gripping the brim tightly
my reflection stared back at me

and what I saw
just made me sick
what I saw was putrid,
vile,
disgusting
and I wanted it gone

though if I did that
then wouldn't I also break myself?

I stared at the image
eyes bloodshot from tears shed,
lower lip trembling from trying to build a dam,
cheeks shimmering from previous droplets

it soon rose its hands
digging my nails into its skin
tearing,
shredding,
maiming...
exactly what I wanted
what I wanted to do to myself

it screamed and closed its eyes
flakes of skin fell and blood poured
muscle pulsed...
and even more

soon it was all back in one piece
as if time rewound

I stand there

I heard a door close earlier,
yet couldn't bring myself to speak
I had laid there on my bed
wondering just how something like I could exist

humans hate being alone,
I am the same
yet I also can't bring myself...
...to go to where they are

"I'm so tired..."
I spoke once again

the reflection stared back
a small, sad, smile carving itself into its lips
which dripped delicate crimson,
"Of what?"
it silently asked

"...of everything."
